Tony’s 35+year professional experience includes architectural design, creation of systems supporting collaborative design processes, project delivery, enterprise knowledge, facilities and asset management. He served as principal and CIO of an international architecture practice, leading IT efforts for more than two decades, was a founding partner of tech company Allen&Rinella, provided product development consultation to Canterbury, Dassault, Graphisoft, and other work BIM-interoperability pilots. Tony originated collaborative virtual educational programs; co-founded DESIGN[realized]. Work with Strategic Building Innovation•bimSCORE includes visioning, education, knowledge and web systems development, plus strategic targeting, metrics, evaluation, and advisory to optimize project and enterprise outcomes for clients internationally. Tony's pro bono contributions advancing Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) include spearheading awareness & education programs during 12+ years as a leader of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Technology in Architectural Practice Knowledge Community, assisting formation of AIA Center for Integrated Practice, numerous educational efforts for AIA chapters around the US, original research for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) BIM case studies, work on the US National Building Information Modeling Standard (NBIMS) and other efforts. Published contributions include the Computer Technology in Practice section of AIA's The Architect’s Handbook of Professional Practice (2008 & 2014), AIA Report on Integrated Practice, Folio 8. Technology, Process Improvement and Cultural Change (co-authored with Jim Bedrick), APEC BIM Startup Guide, and Guide to Performance Metrics and BIM to support Green Building Objectives, editor of SF_line issue: All Things BIM, other publications related to technology and Integrated Project Delivery.
